Role Description

Sustaira is looking for a talented and highly motivated Business Developer – Sustainability Solutions with a passion for sustainability and a strong track of high-quality lead generation and business development activities that drive pipeline and revenue. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving new customer acquisition and building strong pipelines in key sectors. You’ll be at the front lines of our growth—identifying prospects, opening conversations, and collaborating closely with marketing and sales to turn opportunities into long-term clients.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about Sustainability, comfortable in a fast-moving environment, and excited to contribute to meaningful climate impact through software.This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact at the intersection of business development and sales, sustainability solutions, and software scale-up growth.

Responsibilities

  • Drive business development activities to book and run discovery calls and demos together with Sales.
  • Identify, research, and engage prospective customers across target industries
  • Develop and execute data-driven business development campaigns and programs, including webinars and events, emails.
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads to assess fit and readiness, and maintain a healthy sales pipeline in our CRM (Pipedrive).
  • Initiate and manage outbound prospecting campaigns using email, phone, LinkedIn, and tools such as Apollo to generate interest in our sustainability solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing to align messaging and feedback loops, and improve lead quality and conversion rates.
  • Represent the brand at virtual and in-person industry events as needed.
  • Joint business development efforts with current and future partners, including Capgemini and Siemens
  • Stay up to date on sustainability, carbon accounting, and ESG trends to speak credibly with stakeholders across corporate sustainability, finance, procurement, and compliance.
  • Drive experimentation and iterate rapidly, applying a test-learn-scale mindset.
  • Track and report on KPIs (meetings booked, conversion rates, pipeline contribution) and provide input on improving outreach and targeting strategies.

What we’re looking for

  • An A+ sustainability and business development allrounder, who is a self starter that wants to make a difference
  • 2+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships—ideally in SaaS, enterprise tech, or sustainability-related sectors.
  • You have a passion for new technologies, in particular smart, innovative and creative web and mobile apps. AI and generative AI tools experience is a bonus!
  • You communicate well, have a winner’s mentality, and like to work within a dynamic team!
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding pipeline or lead generation targets.
  • Self-starter with high energy, persistence, and a growth mindset.
  • An excellent writer and content generator. You are considered a wonderful communicator.
  • You have experience in sales outreaches and typical marketing and business development tasks such as email campaigns, making calls, and setting up meetings.
  • A bonus would be that you have experience in sustainability and knowledge of sustainability frameworks (GHG Protocol, CDP, TCFD, SBTi) is a strong plus.
  • You take initiatives and would like to be challenged to grow, expand your skill set and are not afraid to make mistakes
  • You desire working with an incredible talented team and have a drive to support and enable exponential growth
  • Business development automation experience (Apollo, LinkedIn and others).
  • CRM experience (experience with Pipedrive or Salesforce is preferred)
  • You have completed (or are completing) a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, and/or Sustainability and have a passion for software.
  • Self motivated with stellar time management while working remotely
  • Highly proficient in English (C1 or higher) and Dutch.
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands and based out of the Netherlands.
  • You are available to work at least 24 hours per week.
