As an Electronic Design Engineer, you will be part of the Research & Development team, collaborating with colleagues in the Netherlands and Romania. You will be responsible for developing switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and other power electronics products, including hydrogen technology solutions. While your primary workplace will be Almelo, your project teams may include colleagues from locations in Romania and Germany.
Your responsibilities
- Conduct calculations and/or simulations to validate topologies (systems, electronics, thermal characteristics, electromagnetics, EMI).
- Test and integrate new technologies into designs.
- Develop and engineer production-ready products using a simulation-driven approach, including schematic design, PCB layout, component selection (for a cost-effective bill of materials), and the design of parts such as high-frequency transformers and coils.
- Coordinate and oversee mechanical designs.
- Verify the environmental, reliability, and safety qualifications of designs.
- Analyze and address manufacturing errors during different design phases.
- Support other departments, such as Purchasing (e.g., component replacements) and Sales (e.g., initial design requests and prototypes).
- Lead the functional area of Electronic Design and contribute to future development and technology roadmaps.
- Mentor and train junior engineers or trainees.
What we expect from you

- Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics or a related field.
- Has at least 7 years of experience in power electronics.
- Has hardware design experience from scratch and can read schematics.
- Can manage and prioritize multiple diverse projects simultaneously.
- Adopts a methodical work approach and takes initiative.
- Is flexible, disciplined, results-oriented, and well-organized.
- Is fluent in Dutch and confident in English (minimum B2); German is an advantage but not required.
