In this role

You will play a pivotal role in bridging theoretical physics and practical analytical solutions. Your work will involve translating complex physical principles into robust numerical algorithms that drive the analytical capabilities of our XRF systems. You will also be responsible for implementing and validating these algorithms through experimental work, ensuring they meet real-world performance standards.

You will collaborate with software developers, physicists, and application specialists to design, simulate, and optimize analytical models. Your contributions will directly impact the accuracy, reliability, and usability of our XRF solutions in customer workflows.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and implement analytical algorithms that translate physical models into numerical solutions for XRF systems
  • Perform simulations and modelling to support algorithm development and performance optimization
  • Design and execute experiments to validate analytical models and ensure alignment with customer workflows
  • Translate customer and scientific requirements into technical specifications and software features
  • Collaborate with R&D software teams to integrate algorithms into maintainable and scalable solutions
  • Communicate effectively across disciplines to ensure coherence between physics, software, and application development
  • Contribute to scientific partnerships and method development initiatives. Stay up to date with relevant scientific and technological advancements
  • What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • A higher degree (preferably MSc or PhD) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Strong background in X-ray physics, numerical modelling, and analytical chemistry
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing analytical algorithms
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C# (preferably) and Python, with a focus on scientific computing
  • Familiarity with simulation tools and algorithm validation through experimental methods
  • Ability to translate physical principles into practical software solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to understand and improve workflows
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Great to have

  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar role or in solving comparable problems in an academic or industrial context
  • Experience with complementary analytical techniques
  • Knowledge of data science, machine learning, or statistical methods
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
